Arts

"The sole aim and purpose of music is the glorification of God and the refreshment of the spirit."  J.S. Bach

Art
Bethesda’s art department offers a positive environment in which students express their creativity.  The elements of art are explored while artistic expression is developed through the use of a variety of media. Art appreciation is acquired through studies in art history and an awareness of opportunities is gained as students evaluate their interest in art as a career.

Band
The BCS band program strives to challenge students mentally, physically and spiritually as they learn to master an instrument in an atmosphere of worship through instruction in woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. Students have participated successfully in the ATSSB/TMEA All-Region/Area/State auditions where they compete individually against other students from many other 1A, 2A, and 3A high schools (both public and private) and their middle schools. BCS has placed students at all levels, including the ATSSB All-State bands, for the past three years.

Choir
Students study a varied repertoire consisting of classical, hymns, contemporary, gospel, and famous musical showpieces. Students also learn proper singing technique, note and interval sight singing, ear training, and performance and stage presence. Participation includes ACSI Choral Festival, region auditions, and required concerts.

Drama
The Fine Arts Department unifies their gifts and talents with an annual production. Some of the past productions include “Beauty and the Beast”, “Cinderella” and “Fiddler on the Roof”. Their efforts always glorify the Lord and amaze the audience.

Praise Band
Our Senior School Praise Band leads worship every Monday during the Middle and Senior School chapel. The Praise Band members have a desire to serve the Lord with the musical talents He has blessed them with. Their goal: to bring classmates and teachers before the throne of God.
