Elementary students are taught how to use the library and its resources using a course of study that reviews and presents new information from year to year. Middle and senior school students have access to the library before and after school and at flexibly scheduled research times. The librarian promotes, inspires, and guides students toward a love of reading, a quest for knowledge, and a thirst for lifelong learning. Proverbs 18:15 is the BCS Library scripture: “The heart of the discerning acquire knowledge, the ears of the wise seek it out.”

The Library Media Center houses 8500 print volumes, 950 audio-visual items, a television with VCR/DVD/Computer capabilities, and six student computer workstations with internet capability.

The library’s online catalog is accessible via the Internet through LibraryWorld. To login, enter “BCS Library” as the Library Name. No password is needed.

Accelerated Reader’s Bookfinder and  HomeConnect are also on the Internet.

To expand their access to library materials and resources, BCS students and staff are encouraged to obtain a TexShare card, login ID and password from a participating Texas public library. This card is separate from the standard card issued by a local public library.  In addition to providing patrons with the ability to obtain interlibrary loans, the TexShare program offers registered users access to many electronic databases.
